Luminosa: Morrison Metric Century 2019

Morrison is excited to present Luminosa: Morrison Metric Century 2019! Sponsored by Pacific Office Automation and the Morrison Foundation, this first-class, multi-distance bike ride supports Morrison Child and Family Services in providing prevention, foster care, mental health, and substance abuse treatment to children, youth, and families. 4 unique routes begin and end at Champoeg State Park south of Portland and everyone is welcome at the Finish Line Party featuring food, games, and live music by The Denominators!

You will cycle alongside fields of Oregon’s world-famous hops, past views of vineyards and through quaint towns. Each route is amply marked with its own color-coding that matches the printed cue sheets, and there will be signage along the routes. We will also have printed versions of the routes and cue sheets at check-in.

2019 Luminosa 62-Mile (Metric Century) – 4.5 – 6.5 hours

Along your route, you’ll meander through small towns and past small churches, amidst beautiful farmlands and nurseries. As you make your way south, you’ll pass St. Louis Church built in 1880. At the Mt. Angel Rest Stop, next to City Hall, you’ll be in the heart of this German town, the site of Oktoberfest, and you’ll be able to view Mt. Angel Abbey, a private Roman Catholic seminary and community of Benedictine monks. Founded in 1882 by Benedictine monks who immigrated to the United States from Engelberg, Switzerland, the abbey is also home of Benedictine Brewery founded in 2018, one of three monastic breweries in U.S.

Near the LaFollette Mission Orchards Rest Stop, is Willamette Mission State Park, the site of the former Willamette Mission, established in 1834 by Rev. Jason Lee. Today, the old mission has been rebuilt as a ghost structure.

As you ride through St. Paul, you’ll pass the site of the famous St. Paul Rodeo and you’ll want to take note of St Paul Roman Catholic Church, which, as Oregon’s first church to be built with bricks in 1846, is the oldest brick building in the Pacific Northwest.  Your final rest stop will be at St. Paul High School.

2019 Luminosa 44-Mile – 3 – 5 hours

Along your route, you’ll meander through the countryside, as you pass Lady Hill Winery, hop and berry farms.  As you make your way south, you’ll pass St. Louis Church built in 1880.
