Our Breakthrough Day Treatment program is designed to meet the needs of adolescents who have histories of trauma and drug and/or alcohol abuse. In many cases, the youth also have a history of truancy and gang associations, that resulted in serious trauma. Breakthrough helps youth make the transition to a successful, clean, and sober lifestyle.
Our program combines alcohol and drug abuse treatment, mental health treatment, skill development, education, and mentoring in therapeutic foster homes. The program provides youth with intensive treatment to enhance recovery.
We use foster homes, specialized in treating each boy’s specific needs, with caring foster parents as part of the treatment team. The foster parents provide structure, safety, and support to increase the youth’s ability to be accountable, demonstrate empathy, and graduate with new, pro-social behaviors.
We provide highly structured schedules, parent training, and opportunities to learn and practice pro-social interactions. We help youth build coping skills and provide a supportive structure wherein they can break from addictive habits. We help youth transition to appropriate placements including biological families, foster care, or independent living programs.
Whom We Help
We help youth who are between the ages of 13 to 17 and who have substance abuse issues.
Referrals
We accept referrals from the Oregon Youth Authority and the general public.
