New Trauma-Informed Clinic to Serve Hundreds of Children and Adolescents Annually, Expanding Critical Mental Health Access in Oregon

Portland, Ore. – (Sept. 4, 2025) – Morrison Child and Family Services, a leader in children’s mental and behavioral health, has announced the grand opening of its new Portland Outpatient Clinic, now located in the heart of the Hollywood District. This move expands access to trauma-informed mental health and substance use services for children and families across the Portland metro area.

The clinic opened its doors earlier this summer and is poised to serve hundreds of children and adolescents ages 2-18 each year. Morrison’s outpatient program reached nearly 3,000 youth in the past year alone.

This comes at a critical time: Oregon is ranked 51st in the nation, including D.C., for youth ages 12-17 experiencing at least one major depressive episode (MDE) in the past year. Nearly 25% of Oregon youth face this challenge, according to Mental Health America. Morrison’s new, centrally located clinic is part of the organization’s mission to close that gap and ensure more youth receive the care they need.

“Morrison’s new Portland Outpatient Clinic represents our deep commitment to increasing the accessibility and quality of therapy and associated mental health services to children and families in our community,” said Nick Gallo, CEO of Morrison Child and Family Services. “We’re excited to continue to help kids be kids and to support families when they need us most.”

Designed with trauma-informed care in mind, the clinic provides an engaging, welcoming, and healing environment for clients and staff alike. It is equipped with a sensory room and an observation playroom, allowing therapists to do live-coaching with caregivers to work on various skills. Each clinician’s office is larger, giving them the opportunity to integrate more art, play, and gross motor movement activities in their sessions.

The Portland clinic, one of four Morrison outpatient clinics in the greater Portland metro area, provides a wide range of outpatient services, including mental health therapy, case management, psychiatric assessment, medication management, and community-based supports tailored to meet the unique needs of youth and families.
