Philanthropist and children’s champion Connie Ballmer returned to Oregon this week to spotlight the early impact of the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health, a groundbreaking initiative made possible by a transformative $400 million gift from Connie and Steve Ballmer to the University of Oregon.
The symposium brought together a powerful coalition of leaders and changemakers committed to improving the lives of children and families across Oregon. Among the attendees were First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson, Rep. Nosse, Rep. Sanchez, and Sen. Lieber, as well as The Ballmer Institute Executive Director Dr. Kate McLaughlin. Morrison’s CEO, Nick Gallo, a member of The Ballmer Institute’s Community Advisory Board, was invited to speak about the challenges providers face serving youth and families.
Morrison is proud to be an early partner with The Ballmer Institute, which includes hosting children’s behavioral health specialist interns into our care teams. These interns are gaining hands-on experience while helping us deliver team-based, outcomes-focused behavioral health services to children. The collaboration exemplifies how research, training, and community-based care can come together to meet critical workforce and service needs.
“The Ballmer Institute is creating something truly unique in children’s mental health by increasing access to care and improving outcomes for children and families in Oregon,” said Nick. “Together, we’re not just admiring the problem—we’re solving it.”
