Listos Para Aprender

Video from Portland Children’s Levy

Listos Para Aprender is a home visitation, school readiness program. We provide Latino families with educational home visits, parenting groups, and community resources. Listos conducts developmental screenings to ensure children are on track for their age. The program also provides families with books and other learning materials that will help prepare children for school.

During a home visit, parents can ask questions of and share ideas with their parent educator, play learning games with their child, discover how to make toys using materials found in their home, learn about the development of their child and learn about resources in the community. We help answer questions like:

  • How do I deal with my child’s tantrums?
  • What should my child be doing at this age?
  • Where do I find more help in my community?
  • What are the alternatives to spanking?

Our staff is made up of bilingual, bicultural parent educators trained and certified in the Parents As Teachers curriculum, who believe all families have strengths and may need support.

Listos Para Aprender is funded by the Portland Children’s Levy.
